Tribute
Your dimples would light up the room with your smile,
I remember you as my first child,
Your life had its twists and turns,
For your presence I will always yearn,
Why God called you home yesterday,
I can only shed tears and drop to my knees and pray,
My son from another mother,
The one I will always have love in my heart for like no other,
I can’t even grasp what you could have become in this life,
Leaving this world at the age of 25 out the struggles and strife,
Your absence cuts like a knife in my spirit as I find the words to comfort my hurt,

I can’t even imagine seeing your face one last time on a t-shirt.

Dreams
I wrote a letter to my dreams saying come back,
I gave up on you too soon,
Find me please because I keep opening up old wounds,
I need a glimpse of you to make it through,
See it is time I make a mends to move forward,
So hello dreams,

I'm ready to come on board.

Inspired

Amazed as I gaze at the morning sun,
It's another day to get this thing called life right and run,
Run towards my dreams and aspirations,
Aspirations that seems so far away,
But every day that I rise and gaze amazingly at the morning sun,
I am empowered to be driven by the opportunity of a new day of challenges to be won.

Black Jewels Are Forever

Born into life a sin,
Counted out because you didn’t have a mother and a father to welcome you in,
Blessed by the same Redeemer that walked the earth 33 years and died for your sins,
Cursed from the mouths of those that said they believed and would count you in,
Beautiful like a butterfly that has hatched and is ready to fly, Forbidden the opportunity before your first attempt to try,
Continuing to honor your essence because even broken, tired and confused still not defeated,
Forever a black jewel.
